The Aa leads from Velen and Rhede, Bocholt and Isselburg to the Netherlands. After the border it flows into the Issel.

Already in the urban area of Rhede is the Bocholter Aa accessible by canoe. Portage is then necessary at the Krechting dam. Then the way over the leisurely flowing Aa is free to Bocholt. There are also some weirs in the city of Bocholt.

Outside the villages, the Aa runs through the lovely western part Münsterland. Framed by the gentle landscape, it flows very leisurely to the west. Via Isselburg, the canoe tours lead across the border into the Netherlands.
