Barrier-free viewing platform Heubachniederung

The Heubach lowlands near Reken is one of the most valuable wetland landscapes of the MünsterlandExtensive meadows, pastures, ditches, and small bodies of water characterize this diverse lowland landscape and provide an important habitat for numerous animal and plant species. As part of a European bird protection area, the Heubach lowlands are of particular importance for the conservation of rare meadow birds and other species dependent on wetlands.

A particular attraction is the accessible viewing platform on Hulatener Weg. It allows visitors an unobstructed view across the open landscape and makes nature observation equally accessible to people with varying mobility needs. From here, the seasonal changes of the lowlands can be observed particularly well – from the fresh green of the meadows in spring to the atmospheric light of the autumn and winter months.

With a bit of luck, typical inhabitants of the wetlands can be observed from the viewing platform. Lapwings, curlews, and other meadow birds find suitable breeding and feeding grounds here. Numerous migratory birds also use the lowlands as a resting place on their migrations.
