Set off and discover Voerde at its best! This circular tour takes you along the city limits and shows you just how diverse Voerde truly is – from idyllic Rhine villages to exciting history and impressive natural and technology spots.

You'll start in the quiet Rhine villages of Mehrum and Ork before continuing on to historic Götterswickerhamm. This over 1000-year-old village has a lot to offer: the Protestant church designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel, the medieval court linden tree, and the striking "Haus Storchennest" tower.

From the Rhine dike, you'll enjoy magnificent views of the Rhine and the expansive meadows—perhaps even in the company of some sheep grazing leisurely on the dike or crossing your path. Things get technically exciting at the Friedrichsfeld Lock, which connects the Wesel-Datteln Canal to the Rhine.

It is also worth taking a look at the former Voerde coal-fired power plant – an impressive piece of industrial history.

Afterwards, the Wohnungswald forest awaits you – a popular local recreation area, ideal for a short break. And finally, there's a historical look back: sites commemorating the Allied crossing of the Rhine in 1945, such as the Ork dike cross or the memorial at the Mehrum Rhine breakthrough.
