Victoria – that was the name of the faithful replica of a Roman galley that sailed on the Lippe a few years ago! The approximately 14 km long loop of the Römer-Lippe-Route takes you on a journey to experience from the saddle where the galley once sailed.
The southern part of the circular route takes you along the Wesel-Datteln canal. Enjoy the relaxed cycling while you occasionally come across the Lippe.
In Marl you will be greeted by the landscape artwork “Wasserstände” – remains of a former waterworks that are gradually being reclaimed by nature.
On the way back on the circular route, you will be offered a wide variety of sights: the Annaberg with its pilgrimage chapel and pilgrimage church, the LWL Roman Museum, where you can immerse yourself in the Roman theme, the Historical Lippe Crane and a particularly beautiful nature experience in the Westruper Heide.
The Haltern reservoir with its seaside resort and the old town of Haltern am See, whose historical flair will inspire you, ensure worthwhile breaks.
