Nestled in the heart of the Dorsten Heath, the Hervester Bruch, with its ponds, ditches, and streams, offers fascinating insights into a diverse natural world and wildlife. Several viewing platforms – some designed to be accessible – as well as an observation tower allow for impressive observations of the local bird species. In the northwest of the Hervester Bruch, a boardwalk leads through the reeds to an accessible viewing platform with views of the surrounding pastureland. On the southern side, a stork's nest can be wonderfully observed from an accessible viewing platform.

Besides numerous birds, water buffalo and Heck cattle can also be spotted in the wetland, contributing to the maintenance of the valuable landscape through their grazing. The Hervester Bruch is a fen with extensive reed beds and belongs to the large nature reserve along the Wienbach stream. It thus represents an important habitat for many rare animal and plant species.
