Packed everything? Then send the backpack to yourself or your companion and get going!
The Flamingo Route connects everything that nature has to offer in the German-Dutch border region between Enschede and Borken so special: impressive landscapes and a wide variety of habitats. Across a total of 450 well-signposted kilometers, you can enjoy a varied, exciting, and at times almost exotic-looking circular cycle tour. Fascinating moor and heath landscapes, idyllic villages, and lively towns with impressive buildings such as Ahaus Castle and Gemen Castle await you. The route offers an intense natural experience and numerous cultural highlights along the way. Many of the protected areas crossed are home to rare animal and plant species – in addition to the eponymous flamingos, blue moor frogs and botanical specialties such as the pretty marsh gentian live here. We'll introduce you to some of the most impressive natural areas here.
