Nature is having offspring – consideration during the nesting and breeding season

During these weeks, birds build their nests, incubate their eggs, and later feed hungry chicks. Deer leave their fawns in the protective tall grass, while hares and many other animals care for their young. This time is particularly sensitive for wildlife, as many species are now very vulnerable to disturbance.

This makes it all the more important that nature is protected during this phase. Peace and protection finds – so that the young animals can grow up safely.

Young animals need rest

Roe deer often leave their fawns well hidden in tall grass or at the edge of the forest. Hares, ground-nesting birds such as skylarks and various duck species, as well as many songbirds, also raise their young during this time. The young animals are often barely visible and rely on their camouflage. If they are disturbed, it can be life-threatening for them.

Consideration when experiencing nature

The Naturpark Hohe Mark It invites you to relax and experience nature. To protect both people and animals, we ask visitors to observe the rules during the nesting and breeding season. special consideration:

  • Stay on the paths, so as not to disturb habitats and nests

  • Do not touch or take young animals – the parent animals are usually nearby
