The viewing platform on Rhader Weg is located directly on the 3rd stage of the Hohe Mark SteigIt offers a fantastic elevated panoramic view of the Üfter Mark – one of the most beautiful wooded areas in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Once characterized by glacial sandy soils, the region is today an important and extensive habitat for rare plants, pines, oaks and the characteristic red deer.
The viewing platform on the northwestern edge of the former Boer sand pit in Schermbeck was built by the RVR (Regional Association Ruhr). The covered structure is five meters high and covers an area of 45 square meters. From there, visitors can observe red deer, wild boar, and various bird species in the former sand pit. The viewpoint is wheelchair accessible and easily reached via Rhader Weg.
