Re-certification of two Naturpark-Daycare centers

Naturpark-Daycare centers Holzwurm and Waldwurm successfully re-certified

Raesfeld, 17 June 2025 – The Naturpark-Daycare centers from Raesfeld and Raesfeld-Erle were again awarded the title “Naturpark-Kita” award. The award is presented every five years by the Association of German Naturparke (VDN) and confirms the continuous fulfillment of the criteria in the field of nature and environmental education. Both institutions have held this award since 2019.

 

As part of the award ceremony, a morning circle was held where the children learned about the Alpine hare, the Animal of the Year 2025. Afterwards, a treasure hunt with an animal and nature quiz was held. As a souvenir, the children received a button with the inscription “NaturparkitaKind”.

The recertification underlines the commitment of the daycare centers to teach children about ecological connections, sustainability, and the responsible use of nature in a playful way. Through excursions, projects, and cooperation with regional partners and the Naturpark Hohe Mark The daycare centers promote awareness of the regional natural landscape.

Award for further commitment

The award "Naturpark-Kita" is awarded for a period of five years. After this period, a further review is carried out by the VDN (Association of German Naturparke), which is Naturpark Hohe Mark submitted documentation to ensure that all program criteria are still met.  Naturpark-Daycare centers Holzwurm and Waldwurm have have also met all requirements in this recertification round and are once again recognized for their outstanding work in the field of nature and environmental education.

This recertification encourages us to continue on our path of sustainable and nature-based education, which we have been pursuing for many years," says kindergarten director Katja Maschmeier.

“Our goal in the NaturparkThe goal of our daycare center is to provide children with a space where they can develop a relationship with nature through their own experiences. We support them with child-friendly teaching and make ecological connections tangible. This way, the children not only discover nature, but also their own significance within it. Because we believe: You will only want to protect what you have learned to love," says Stefanie Steverding, group leader at the Kita-Waldwürmer.

With this recertification, the two Naturpark-Daycare centers in Raesfeld are a strong example of sustainable educational work and the promotion of responsible interaction with nature. The daycare center remains an important place where children can learn, discover, and grow.

“Our region offers a unique natural diversity that is of great interest to the children of Naturpark-daycare centers is an exciting field of experience. Together with the Naturpark-Kita educators, parents and a broad network of nature experts, we can bring these special features closer to the children and offer them a new perspective on their own homeland," says the managing director of the Naturparks Hohe Mark Dagmar Beckmann.
