Re-certification Naturpark-Daycare in Heiden “Forest Mice Association”
Raesfeld, May 12.05.2025, XNUMX –Re-certification of the Naturpark_Daycare Heiden “Waldmäuse e. V.” – Another milestone for sustainable education in the 25-year history of the parents’ initiative
On 10.05.2025 May XNUMX, the parents’ initiative “Die Waldmäuse” celebrated Heiden e. V. celebrated its 25th anniversary. All former families, friends, and employees of the association were cordially invited to this special occasion to celebrate together, share memories, and reflect on the past years.
During this ceremony, “The Forest Mice” were once again awarded the coveted “Naturpark-Kita" and can call itself part of a pioneering program to promote nature education and sustainable development in early childhood for another five years. On March 26, 2020, the daycare center was first recognized as Naturpark-Kita, and in this recertification round it has once again met the high requirements of the program.
A strong connection to nature
In the first years of life, children learn at an incredible pace. The experiences they gain through active doing and experiencing – whether through research, touching, tasting, or trying things out – are particularly formative. This is where the Naturpark-Daycare center “Waldmäuse e. V. in Heiden It offers children a variety of opportunities every day to discover, grasp and understand the nature in their surroundings.

We want them to understand the connections in nature and their own role within it," says daycare center director Mareike Balgar. Topics such as natural cycles, the benefits of nature, and the importance of sustainability play a central role. This is achieved through playful activities, excursions, projects, and regular engagement with nature and related areas such as agriculture, forestry, or regional culture and crafts.
With this recertification, the Naturpark-Kita Heiden a strong symbol of sustainable educational work and the promotion of responsible interaction with nature. The daycare center remains an important place where children can learn, discover, and grow.

The forest kindergarten used the occasion to present its environmental theme “Waste and Waste Avoidance”.

The award "Naturpark-Kita" is awarded for a period of five years. The daycare center Heiden has also met all requirements in this recertification round and is once again recognized for its outstanding work in the field of nature and environmental education.

This includes topics such as nature, landscape, regional culture, crafts, agriculture, and forestry. The cooperation allows daycare centers to benefit from a broad network of experts and resources and to provide children with practical insights into the diversity of their environment.
