The long-distance hiking trail was extended to over 140 km Hohe Mark Steig now certified as a quality long-distance hiking trail.

The trail has everything to meet the demands of hikers, such as varied natural landscapes, natural treasures along the route and individual attractions with a high proportion of natural trails. The hosts of the neighboring municipalities invite you to take a breather and enjoy yourself.

The stages with their lengths between 19 and 27 km meet the strict criteria of the German Hiking Association for quality hiking trails and were the benchmark to be observed when developing the trail. In addition to the predominantly natural paths, this also includes hiker-friendly signage. Magenta-colored signs with a slightly curved path and stylized trees indicate the route. Information steles, benches, rest areas and shelters offer guests orientation and comfort on their hiking tours. There is also along the Hohe Mark Steigs numerous accommodation and refreshment options as well as public transport connections.

The high quality level of Hohe Mark Steigs was confirmed by the German Hiking Association. At the Caravan Salon trade fair in Düsseldorf, the long-distance hiking trail has now received the “Quality Trails Wanderables Germany” award.

The "Landstreifer" (Land Wanderer) circular trails are a special offering for all day visitors. The first "Landstreifer" is already open for hiking, and more will follow.
