The twelve NaturparkThe representative of North Rhine-Westphalia visits the state parliament

On July 15, 2026, the twelve NRW-NaturparkThey were present in the foyer of the state parliament in Düsseldorf to introduce their diverse tasks and projects to the members of parliament. NaturparkAs large protected areas covering more than 45% of the state's land area, they implement pioneering projects in the areas of "nature conservation and landscape management", "education for sustainable development", "sustainable tourism and recreation", and "sustainable regional development" in cooperation with over 200 municipalities, 29 cities and districts, and numerous partners. In doing so, they strengthen sustainable regional development in rural areas and fulfill legal obligations in accordance with Section 27 of the Federal Nature Conservation Act and Section 38 of the State Nature Conservation Act.

The NaturparkAt their stand, they presented concrete examples from practice that contribute, among other things, to the basic functions of health and education: when educational institutions such as Naturpark-schools and NaturparkBy providing children with access to nature experiences in daycare centers, these experiences will support nature conservation, in line with the motto "What you know, you protect!". Furthermore, the wide range of local recreational opportunities gives citizens the chance to escape the "worries of everyday life" and regenerate both physically and mentally. The areas of nature conservation, tourism and recreation, education for sustainable development, and regional development are interconnected in many projects and are mutually dependent.

 

 

 

 

 

The appearance generated great interest among the members of the state parliament. Oliver Krischer, Member of Parliament and Minister for the Environment and Transport, welcomed the Naturparke. With his ministry, he is responsible for the Naturparke responsible. Among those interested were also the Finance Minister Dr. Marcus Optendrenk MdL, who himself in the Naturpark Schwalm-Nette is at home. To what extent the NaturparkMinister for Agriculture and Consumer Protection, Silke Gorißen, MdL, learned during her visit to the stand that the companies are also implementing projects in the areas of agriculture and land use and pursuing their set goals. Furthermore, the Naturparke in dialogue with the members of the state parliament on the working topics of the Naturparke go. Also the needs for the NaturparkThese issues will be addressed in the coming years so that the sustainable regional development of rural areas can be actively promoted.

The NaturparkThey also used the event to advocate for improved funding from the state to support the implementation of their legal responsibilities. Although the current state government has made a valuable contribution to the work of the [organization/group] with the establishment of a coordination office as agreed in the coalition agreement. NaturparkDespite its achievements, North Rhine-Westphalia still ranks last nationwide in basic funding for Naturparken ein.
